Although the peninsula is small, it is home to forty churches, dating back to the times when Nessebar was under Byzantine, Ottoman, and eventually Bulgarian rule.
Sozopol
Sozopol is a lively resort town, especially popular with tourists from Eastern Europe. Situated on a picturesque peninsula, it enchants visitors with its unique architecture and romantic atmosphere. It is one of the oldest towns on the Bulgarian Black Sea coast. The Greeks founded it as early as the 7th century BC, and over time, it came under Roman, Byzantine, and later Ottoman rule.
